Edit Included `thespook's suggestion. Also made the <b> usable in the popout.
Second verse same as the first. A lot to be said, just like last time.
Why?
Version 1 of the skin was a simplification and improvement of the skin that came before it. However it had features that I decided not to include, mainly because of Internet Explorer, and because I wanted the skin to work in as many width browsers as I could. These things include a popout section for content and using the side bar for more than just 80x15 buttons.
Version 1.5 of the skin (this one), basically includes what was missing from Version 1. It has a popout, and the stamp collection has been forever moved to the side bar, where it should have been in the first place.
So, in essence, Version 1.5 is a repolish of a polish .
What's included?
There should be three files in the zip archive.
journalcss.css body.html footer.html
journalcss.css This is the meat of the thing (obviously). To get this to work just open it up in a text editor and paste it into the CSS box.
body.html If you paste this into the Journal Entry box (again by opening in a text editor), you should end up with the main body looking the same as the main body in the preview image.
footer.html Again, paste into the footer box (by opening in a text editor and cutting and pasting), and you should end up with a footer that looks the same as the preview image.
I have tried to get these to be as customisable as I can get them. The whole point of the files is to show the whole gamut of what the skin can do. This makes it easier to work out what you've got to do when you come to making your own journal with the skin.
Notes
This CSS has been fully tested in Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 (no Opera, though it should work fine in theory). The CSS works perfectly (assuming you get the HTML formatting correct) in Firefox, however, there are a few bugs that I can't quite iron out at the moment for IE 7. However, it generally looks like it should (generally) so unless you absolutely need complete IE 7 support, it should be fine.
In addition, this journal CSS has had a few ideas inspired by `thespook (primarily, the use of doubling or tripling simple HTML (such as using <b><b><b> to make a main title)). I have also used his popup code for the 'About this CSS' and popout popup. In addition I have also used his thumb table CSS (found at [link]).
As you should be able to tell, this CSS is under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License. This means that you can do basically anything you want to the CSS as long as you attribute me and you share your code with the same or compatible license.
Like I've said before, it's a great journal skin. Something about it, the composition I guess, just really does it for me and makes it a pleasure to read.
The top right hover blob (as you call it ) is a bit hidden away there though, I don't think anyone would know to hover over it unless you told them it was there.
Yeah, I am thinking of tweaking it back so that the 'More?!' text is visible (I set the font-size to 0px to hide it away). Either that or I make the colour of the blob hover a little more pronounced :B
I think making the text visible again would be alright, and I'd say use opacity to fade it down a bit, but you'll have to emulate it by picking a colour that blends with the blob background since the bigwigs wont let us use opacity...
Made the change . Should be subtle enough so as not to scream 'look at me and only me dammit', while being noticeable enough for people to make their mouse wander over it :B
